Salla acquires fintech provider Paylink to expand unified merchant payments

The aquisition connects Salla’s retail network of more than 68,000 active merchants with Paylink’s payment stack

Riyadh, September 4, 2026: Saudi e-commerce platform Salla has acquired Paylink, a domestic financial technology provider, to integrate direct payment processing infrastructure and expand payment options across physical and digital sales channels.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The transaction connects Salla’s retail network of more than 68,000 active merchants with Paylink’s payment stack, which is licensed by the Saudi Central Bank to provide e-commerce payment services. The integration is designed to help merchants process multi-currency transactions, accept varied international payment methods, and consolidate order management as domestic businesses expand regionally.

Through the transaction, Salla plans to expand its physical point-of-sale infrastructure by introducing software-based point-of-sale technology. This will allow merchants to turn compatible mobile devices into contactless payment terminals, removing reliance on standalone card hardware.

Founded in 2017 by Ammar AlTwaijri and Abdulelah Alsayegh, Paylink developed electronic checkout tools and domestic payment rails for enterprise and small-to-medium enterprises across the Kingdom.

The takeover was announced alongside a broader commerce ecosystem push revealed at LEAP 2026 in Riyadh, where Salla unveiled logistics partnerships, enterprise loyalty integrations, and artificial intelligence programs.

Speaking at LEAP 2026, Nawaf Hariri, co-founder and chief executive of Salla, noted that merchant platforms must adapt to higher transaction volumes and evolving physical footprints.

“Technology must deliver faster, more trusted, and personalized commerce experiences that extend across payments, logistics, and artificial intelligence,” Hariri said.

Alongside the acquisition, Salla completed an investment in NmlApp, a retail connectivity platform, to help online merchants distribute inventory through physical storefront networks without opening dedicated real estate. The company also established an operations partnership with Aramex to automate fulfillment, integrated stc’s Qitaf customer loyalty points system, and rolled out Sabbaq, an eight-week commercial accelerator for enterprise artificial intelligence developers.
